Pope Fancis Arrives On Greek Island Of Lesbos To See Extent Of Refugee Crisis For Himself.

143 000 people have so far made the crossing this year. Many migrants in detention have complained about the overcrowding in the camp and the uncertainity of potentially being sent back to their countries of origin. The pope will throw a floral wreath into the water as a way of remembering those who have died in attempting to cross to Europe
Although the pope visit is said to be non political, some people argue that, by visiting the place, the Pope has infact lent a political view to the migrant crisis and in a way indirectly challenges European leaders stance against unchecked migration.

The Pope is expected to take some refugees along with him to the Vatican, a situation made possible by the fact that the Vatican is an independant state and can implement the necessary diplomatic protocols reuired to take those few refugees back with him. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
